Robin Fisher is a British-born, Berlin-based songwriter, musician, writer and visual artist whose work spans folk, indie and electronic music. Born in Pontefract, a small ex-mining-town in Yorkshire, Fisher began playing guitar and experimenting with cassette tapes at an early age, forming several bands through his teen years until founding the long-running solo project Salvage My Dream at 17. The project combines intimate, stream-of-consciousness songwriting with DIY bedroom-recording aesthetics, tape fragments, sound collages and song experiments. Its sound takes further influence from ’90s emo mixtapes, obscure folk records, and the rural isolation and urban decay of post-industrial northern England.

In 2015, Fisher composed the score for the feature film The Subject (opens in a new tab). The soundtrack also included a number of songs from Salvage My Dream.

Moving to Germany in 2016, Fisher became exposed to the Berliner experimental music scene. After an unfortunate burglary which left him without traditional instruments, a new sound began emerging from his recently acquired sampler that didn’t fit under the previous moniker. Scar Polish explores lo-fi electronica and dream psychedelia, capturing improvisational moments of gritty samples, ethereal soundscapes and dub-inflected echoes while retaining an underlying pop sensibility.

Since 2022, Fisher also plays in improvisational electronica duo Fluffy Maybes, a collaboration with musician Jingyun Li. Formed online during the pandemic between Berlin and Shanghai, the duo now perform and record together in Berlin. Inspired by early electronic records and old-school synths, the band’s sound journey’s through sun-drenched psychedelia, surrealist lyrics in English and Chinese, and evolving waves of nature-inspired synthesis. At its core is a playful, curious and deliberately unrestricted approach to making music.
